RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Both offline and online training should be provided continuously and
in a timely manner to equip teachers with the necessary skills. Specific
training, including courses on communication skills, is essential to help
teachers interact effectively, present their views professionally, and
become better and more efficient educators.
Currently, only 20% of teachers are fully aware, trained, and aligned
with the goals of NEP 2020. While 30% are willing to adapt and
embrace changes, a significant 50% remain resistant to change. This
resistance poses a serious challenge to the successful implementation
of the policy. SCERTs and DIETs must focus on addressing this issue
by creating strategic interventions, motivating resistant teachers,
and spreading awareness about the importance of NEP 2020. Efforts
should also ensure that the 20% of actively engaged teachers are not
overburdened by participating in multiple training programs, while the
resistant 50% are encouraged to engage meaningfully.
Despite the potential of online training platforms like DIKSHA, their
impact has not been fully successful. ICT labs in schools should have
dedicated, well-trained instructors to guide students effectively in using
technology. Teachers must also be supported to reduce the stress they
face due to a lack of understanding of how to integrate new teaching
methods and technology into their classrooms. Providing targeted
and effective training programs will empower teachers to confidently
implement the NEP 2020 framework.
However, many teachers face challenges that hinder their participation
in training programs. Teachers in rural areas, for instance, deal
with additional barriers such as limited resources and diverse
student backgrounds. Furthermore, many teachers are burdened
with administrative tasks that distract them from their primary
responsibilities, while mobile phone usage can further contribute to
distractions. Attendance in training programs is critical, and proper
monitoring systems must be in place to ensure active participation.
To address these challenges, SCERTs and DIETs must prioritize
consistent follow-ups, effective training programs, and interventions
aimed at changing the mindset of resistant teachers. A conducive
environment must be created where teachers feel valued and supported,
which is vital for aligning all educators with the transformative goals
of NEP 2020.
